Now that Fourth of July activities are behind us we can all synchronize
calendars for 7 pm Tuesday, July 11, and gather for a play reading of
[title of show].

No, really, the title of the show is [title of show], a one-act musical,
with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell. The show
chronicles its own creation as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre
Festival, and follows the struggles of the author and composer/lyricist
and their two actress friends during the initial brief (three-week)
creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show’s
off-broadway and broadway productions.  

[title of show] will be LALT’s November presentation, directed by Tim
Orcutt who will lead the play reading. At the reading interested persons
can read dialogue from the script and listen to the songs. Characters in
the play are:

Jeff (20s-early 30s) – fussy grammar nazi and more realist than dreamer;
composer and librettist of the show. Tenor
Hunter (20s-early 30s) – dreamer and script writer, overly concerned about
onstage perspiration. Tenor.
Heidi (20s-early 30s) – power mezzo, bit-part Broadway actress, conflicted
between helping Hunter and Jeff, and finding paying acting gigs.
Susan (20s-early 30s) – alto and self-described “corporate whore”. Eager
to help the boys with their show to escape the monotony of the office.
Larry – keyboardist and music director who speaks a few lines in the show
as well.

Auditions for the show will be held Aug. 27 and 28.
