Play Reading – Rocky Horror Show

Los Alamos Little Theatre announces an open play reading of

The Rocky Horror Show by Richard O’Brien

Tuesday, August 8 at 7:00 pm in the Green Room of the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar, Los Alamos.

Join us to read or listen to the stage version of what became The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Director Deborah Magid along with Producers Jim Sicilian and Gracie Cainelli, Musical Director Gretchen Amstutz, and Costumer Sarah Preteska, will submit this musical for consideration for the 2018-2019 theater season at LALT.

The Rocky Horror Show was first presented on Broadway by Lou Adler at the Belasco Theatre in New York City in March 1975.  It quickly became a cult classic. Revived in 2001 it earned nominations for the 2001 Tony Award® for Best Revival of a Musical and 2001 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.

Reviews abound for this dark comedy/science fiction musical:

“One of the ’10 most influential postwar British plays.” – The Guardian UK

“A socko wacko weirdo rock concert.” – WNBC TV.

A musical that deals with mutating identity and time warps becomes one of the most mutated, time-warped phenomena in show business.” – The New York Times

Light refreshments will be served.
